Q: I have children in my household who are car riders to both campuses. What should I expect this year?
Car riders need to be dropped off at both campuses. Our VCP campuses operate on different start times to provide families time to travel between campuses, a trip of approximately 3 to 5 minutes.

High school car riders should be dropped off first, starting at 7:30 a.m. at the Bethel Avenue Campus. Elementary and middle school car riders should be dropped off starting at 7:50 a.m. at the Sloan Avenue Campus.

Q: Children in my household have always walked to the Sloan Avenue Campus, and now they are split between campuses. What should I expect this year?
Your elementary or middle school student would still walk to the entrance of the Sloan building. Your high school student should request a bus stop near the Sloan building for transportation to Bethel Avenue.

Due to different start times for the campuses, the timing of bus routes, and bus stop locations, it may not be possible for high school students to accompany other family members for their walk to the Sloan Avenue Campus.

Q: My children have always walked to the Bethel campus, and now they are attending classes at the Sloan campus. What should I expect this year?
Only high school students will report to the Bethel building. Your elementary or middle school student should request a bus stop near the Bethel building for transportation to Sloan Avenue. Their route would then return to their stop at the end of each school day according to their bus route schedule.

Q: If we have a mid-day emergency and we need to pick up students from both campuses, what do we do?
Students being picked up during the school day for emergencies, appointments, or other approved instances must be picked up at their VCP campus. For households with students at both campuses, this will require a stop at both the Bethel Avenue Campus and Sloan Avenue Campus.

Q: If we are late to school, can we just drop our kids off at one campus?
Late-arriving students will need to be dropped off at their VCP campus. High school students arriving late must be dropped off at the Bethel Avenue Campus. Elementary and middle school students must be dropped off at the Sloan Avenue Building.

Q: I have students at both campuses. Can my high school student wait at the Bethel building until their sibling’s bus drops them off at their stop near the high school?
ALL high school bus riders will be required to ride a shuttle to the Sloan Avenue Campus each afternoon for the safety of all students and to maintain an accurate attendance count through the dismissal process. At the Sloan building, students in all grade levels will board their assigned buses to be transported to their assigned bus stops.

Q: We are enrolled in after-care with BRAVE for our elementary and middle school children at the Sloan Avenue Building. What does this mean for our high school students?
High school students in such a situation would need to request a bus stop and ride their assigned bus home at the end of the school day. High school students are prohibited from waiting with younger siblings for pickup during the BRAVE after care.

Q: How can I find my child’s bus stop, bus number/symbol/color, and time?

Students will receive documentation at Back to School Nights with their bus information. Their transportation information is also available by viewing a student’s PowerSchool page (login information for this platform is also available at Back to School Nights). Elementary school students will receive bands to be attached to their backpacks that also visually indicate their assigned bus routes to support the transportation process in the first weeks of the academic year.

Q: What if I have a concern with transportation and want to change my stop, see if a bus is running late, or want to discuss bus safety?
Bus information, including a link to view bus locations in real time during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal times, is available on our Transportation web page. Bus policies, a stop change request form, and more information are also available on the page.

We strongly discourage calling VCP front offices for transportation questions or concerns, because our VCP faculty and staff members do not have any direct access to information about bus services.

Q: What if my high school student will be or needs to drive my younger student in elementary or middle school?
The high school starts its school day on the Bethel Avenue Campus before the Sloan Avenue Campus opens its doors for morning arrival. This means high school students will not be able to drop off younger siblings at the Sloan building in the mornings.

We encourage families in this situation to request a bus stop near the Bethel Avenue building for their elementary or middle school student. High school drivers could drop younger sibling(s) at their assigned bus stop on the way into the Bethel building and then pick up the younger student(s) at that same assigned bus stop after the school day.
