THE VCP FIREHAWKS FUND

High school graduation isn’t the finish line for students; it’s the starting line for lifelong professional and personal success. However, college matriculation in Indiana is among the lowest rates in the United States, and the percentages are even lower for students from historically marginalized communities, like those served by VCP.

Supporters of the VCP Firehawks Fund sustain the College Bound Cash Program, a vital, data-proven initiative that helps our network’s students earn the Indiana College Core (ICC).

The ICC is a block of 30 general education courses that our students can complete to earn a full year of college credit for free. In other words, they complete their freshman year of college before they’ve graduated high school, saving an average of $12,000 on college tuition!

To support students earning the ICC at VCP, our College Bound Cash program pays out awards for all As and Bs a student earns in their college-level classes. By graduation day, cash awards can reach $2,400!

VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME – – – – – –
Victory College Prep relies on the generosity of more than 300 community volunteers each academic year to support programming inside and outside of the classroom. Our most significant volunteer need is for individuals and companies to serve as partners of our Firehawks Internship and Real-World Experience (FIRE) Program. Those interested in hosting VCP high school students at their workplace on select dates during the school year can signal their interest using our FIRE Program recommendation form.

To learn about the FIRE Program or other on-campus volunteer opportunities, contact VCP Chief Development Officer Andrew Hayenga at andrew.hayenga@vcpindy.org.
