BLACK RESISTANCE

During Black History Month at VCP, homeroom and advisory classes in all grade levels share and study Black culture through weekly lessons.
Black History Month activities include:
  • Readings and presentations on the month’s theme of Black Resistance, with a special focus on the Civil Rights Movement
  • The creation of quilt-style artworks that use individual panels to celebrate the life and impact of Black leaders both modern and historical
  • Grade-level appropriate documentary and dramatic movie screenings
Black History Month quilt projects will be displayed throughout our school building during the month, and students will have the opportunity to study and learn from the quilts created by their peers.
