During Black History Month at VCP, homeroom and advisory classes share and study Black culture each day.
Every week during the month students will focus on a different theme:
– Week One: Black Authors (Importance of Reading) – Week Two: Black Animation (Importance of Representation) – Week Three: Black Music (Importance of Jazz and Blues) – Week Four: Black Health + Wellness (Importance of Wellbeing)
For each weekly theme, students will be introduced to the topic on Mondays, spend Tuesdays thru Thursdays creating unique ways to express their understanding of the topic, and present their work on Fridays.
The month-long celebration culminates with Black History Month Family Night on February 28 when our community comes together to celebrate Black Culture with a display of classroom projects, food, games, and more.
THEMED STUDENT PROJECTS ARE DISPLAYED WEEKLY THROUGHOUT BLACK HISTORY MONTH
