Annually in November, the VCP community comes together for a friendly contest
to benefit some of our own just in time to mark the Thanksgiving holiday.

The VCP Canned Food Drive Competition collects non-perishable food items and cash donations
to support VCP families who might not otherwise be able to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal at home.

NON-PERISHABLE FOOD DONATIONS
Different grade levels have been assigned specific non-perishable food items to donate to the Canned Food Drive Competition.
Students in the VCP K-6 School are encouraged to donate one of the following items: corn; yams; green beans; and macaroni noodles. But donations of any non-perishable food items are welcomed.
Students in the VCP 7-12 School are asked to bring in specific items by grade level:
Grade 7 – macaroni; Grade 8 – canned pumpkin/fruit pie filling/cornbread mix; Grade 9 – instant mashed potatoes; Grade 10 – canned vegetables; Grade 11 – boxes stuffing; Grade 12 – canned yams.
Food donations should be delivered to homeroom or advisory classrooms. They can also be accepted at the VCP front office but should be associated with a specific student at the time of drop-off for the purposes of tracking the competition’s winning classes.
Classes that collect the most assigned non-perishable food items will be celebrated with themed popcorn or pizza parties.
CASH DONATIONS
Cash donations are used for the purchase of turkeys and other cold-storage items to supplement non-perishables.
The quickest way to complete your cash donation is online through our secure portal.

Cash donations can also be delivered to the VCP front office or to homeroom and advisory classrooms.
