VCP LAUNCHES COLLEGE TRANSITIONS TEAM
Initiative Sets New Bar in Indiana for Continuing-Support Services

In May 2021, the VCP Board of Directors approved the 2021-2022 fiscal year budget that included a new funding stream to support a novel, full-time position for any K-12 school in Indiana – the Director of College Transitions.

The role, deservingly awarded to Maegan Gaboury, a long-time VCP teacher and student advisor, represents a doubling-down on the VCP mission to empower K-12 students with the academic and social-emotional skills needed to thrive in college or a career.

This level of support – a friendly, accessible face and sounding board to help students navigate the new and unique challenges of university life – not only supports VCP goals for student matriculation to college. It also targets attrition rates with the objective that our alumni continue their post-secondary education beyond their first year.
In just its first 60 days, the College Transitions team made tremendous strides towards its goals for VCP graduates and launched a new newsletter – The Torch Times – that posts monthly on the VCP website. The newsletter’s publication, another essential function of the Director of College Transitions, is a powerful tool for keeping our community connected and sharing our impact story.
The right investments in the right talent and opportunities are powering VCP to the next level of service with a program unlike any other in Indiana, and the VCP students will reap the benefits as they carry the torch to future personal and professional success.

The Torch Times Newsletter is a publication
of VCP College Transitions. It publishes weekly.
