Dear Victory College Prep Lower Academy,

We are less than a month away from the start of the 2021-2022 academic year.

The next few weeks are an important time for families to begin preparing students for the start of classes.

Whether you are a new or returning VCP family, we know the start of school brings much excitement but also a little anxiety as our children settle into new grade levels with new teachers. We want to make heading back to school easier. As part of this commitment, we are excited to launch our Back To School Community Webpage.

The page is designed to be your one-stop for accessing important back-to-school information and resources, like school supplies lists and transportation details. We encourage you to visit the Back To School Community Webpage today and revisit it as your family continues to get ready for the start of school.

To further support your back-to-school preparations, we’ll be sending a few more email updates during July so that school leaders can share their thoughts on students returning to the classroom.

Sincerely,

VCP Administration

Dear Victory College Prep Community,

In a few short weeks, our campus will again be stirring with activity. The sounds of shuffling feet and clanking lockers will fill the hallways. Teachers will be busy at whiteboards and students will continue to grow in knowledge and confidence.

Back to school is an exciting and important time. The early days of the academic year set the foundation for the many months of hard work and achievement that will follow. We want to set the right tone as students return to the classroom because there is so much positive momentum to build on after last school year’s remarkable successes, which came despite the impacts of the pandemic. Those 2020-2021 academic year successes included:

  • a 100% college acceptance rate for the VCP Class of 2021, which also earned a combined $3 million in merit and scholarship awards, the equivalent of $60,000 per student;
  • High School faculty members – Ms. O’Dell, and Mr. Taylor – being named Teach Indy Educator Award winners, an honor reserved for top Indianapolis teachers;
  • Lower Academy grade 4 faculty member Mrs. Wills earning the Teach for America Indianapolis Lisa M.Sablosky Alumni Award for Excellence in Teaching;
  • our elementary school and high school programs being named Project Lead The Way Distinguished Schools for their work to unlock student potential.

I’m confident our students, faculty, and staff will carry the torch further and build on these achievements as we begin the 2021-2022 academic year. To do so, let’s start preparing today.

I encourage our families to visit the VCP Back To School Community Webpage to review important information about supply lists, uniform sales, and much more. Parents and guardians, start talking about your hopes and goals for the year with your student. Also, in the days ahead, think about starting to transition student routines where possible to reflect their school day schedules so that changing bed and wake-up times are less of a shock when classes begin.

Just as your families are preparing, our faculty and staff team is also busy getting ready for the start of school. Starting next week, our team of more than 80 educators and administrators will begin two weeks of professional development programs so they can bring the best skills and strategies into your student’s classroom.

We cherish the opportunity to partner with your family and nurture your student’s abilities so that he or she may grow into a responsible and productive young adult. Thank you for trusting your child’s education to Victory College Prep.

With warm regards,

Ryan Gall
Executive Director

Dear VCP Lower Academy Families,

Next week marks the end of summer break, and I am so excited to welcome our students in Kindergarten thru Grade 6 back to school for the 2021-2022 academic year.

Remember, we stagger the first day of school by grade level:

  • Our kindergarteners begin their classes on Monday, August 2.
  • Grades 1 thru 6 report for the first day of school on Tuesday, August 3.

But before the first day, I want to be sure that you mark your calendars for July 27, 28, and 29 when we host Back To School Nights for the VCP community. Lower Academy families are invited to the VCP campus according to this schedule:

  • Family Last Name A – J: July 27
  • Family Last Name K – R: July 28
  • Family Last Name S – Z: July 29

I also want to remind you about our VCP Back To School Community Webpage. The page provides access to school supply lists, sample schedules, transportation information, and much more. Visit the page as your prepare for back to school. You can also expect in the days ahead to hear from your student’s teacher by email for an introduction to her or his classroom.

Remember, we expect students in ALL grade levels to arrive on the first day of school in an approved VCP uniform. We also need families to commit to being on time, whether that’s at a bus stop or for drop-off at school, to ensure that no instruction time in the classroom is missed. The first day of school sets the tone for all the academic days to follow. We want our kids to look their best and be ready to learn.

On behalf of our entire Lower Academy teaching and administrative team, thank you for trusting your child with us. I also thank you for your support of your student’s schoolwork through the academic year. As parents and guardians, your interest and investment in your student’s learning helps us drive the best outcomes in the classroom.

With excitement and appreciation,

Kim Randall
Lower Academy Principal

Dear VCP Middle and High School Families,

We are heading into the final week of summer break, and then it will be time for students to get to work in the classroom. We are very excited to have our middle and high school scholars (Grade 7 thru Grade 12) back to school for the 2021-2022 academic year.

Remember, we stagger the first day of school by grade level:

  • Grade 7 and 9 students return to class on Monday, August 2
  • Grade 8 returns on Tuesday, August 3
  • Grades 10, 11, and 12 report for the first day of school on Wednesday, August 4

But before the first day, I want to be sure that you mark your calendars for July 27, 28, and 29 when we host Back To School Night for our families. Parents and guardians are invited to join their students on the VCP campus according to this schedule:

  • Family Last Name A – J: July 27
  • Family Last Name K – R: July 28
  • Family Last Name S – Z: July 29

I also want to remind you about our VCP Back To School Community Webpage. The page provides access to school supply lists, sample schedules, transportation information, and much more. Please visit the page to ensure scholars are prepared for the return to classes.

Also to help students prepare, your scholar will be hearing from his or her academic advisor by phone in the coming days to discuss expectations for the start of school. Please be prepared to receive that call.

From our newest students in grade 7 joining our middle and high school community to the members of the VCP Class of 2022, we are looking for positive energy and high achievement throughout the academic year, but it all starts with these upcoming first days of the school year when we set the tone for all that’s to come. We ask our scholars to come in prepared to work and excited to learn. Be on time. Be in uniform. Be ready to carry the torch – as one VCP community made up of faculty and staff, parents and guardians, and our young, talented scholars.

Sincerely,

Chelsea Easter
Middle and High School Principal
